Police register: what a repairer must record when buying back

In France, a business that buys used goods to resell them must keep a register (article 321-7 of the French criminal code), often called the « livre de police ». It identifies each item bought and the person who sold it.

What it contains for a phone

• The buyback date and its sequence number.
• The description of the device, with its IMEI or serial number.
• The seller’s identity and ID document reference.
• The price paid.
